What to Pack for a Forest Resort Stay Near Dhaka

The packing list for a forest resort stay near Dhaka is shorter than most people assume. Here's what to bring, what to leave, and what the resort already provides — so you arrive prepared without over-packing.

What Arshinagar provides

Knowing what's already there saves a bag. At Arshinagar, every room comes with towels, geyser hot water, split AC and a hair dryer in the Emerald Suite and Premium SkyView Cottages. Pool towels are provided at the pool. Forest Dine serves a full three meals; complimentary breakfast is included with every overnight stay.

You do not need to bring: food, pool equipment, extra towels, a kettle (tea and coffee station in-room in the premium rooms), or an umbrella unless you're arriving in monsoon season.

What to pack: the essentials

  • Swimwear — for the pool and potentially the lake if you book a boating session.
  • Comfortable walking shoes — the forest trails are manageable in trainers; flip-flops are fine within the resort grounds.
  • Light layers — mornings and evenings in winter can be genuinely cold at the forest edge; even in summer, AC rooms and evening forest air warrant a light layer.
  • Sunscreen — the pool area has direct sun exposure in the middle of the day.
  • Personal toiletries — the rooms have bathroom essentials but if you have specific skincare or products, bring them.
  • Phone charger — every room has power points; bring your standard cable.
  • Medications — the resort is about an hour from Dhaka; a pharmacy isn't on-site.

Monsoon additions

If you're visiting between June and September, add:

  • A light waterproof jacket or a compact umbrella for outdoor transitions between buildings.
  • An extra pair of shoes — trail shoes or waterproof sandals if you want to walk after rain.
  • Insect repellent — the forest after rain is beautiful, but the mosquito population agrees.

What to leave at home

Heavy luggage: You're at a resort for one or two nights. A mid-size bag is fine. A full suitcase is unnecessary and harder to move through the resort grounds.

Work: The resort has Wi-Fi, but there's a specific pleasure in leaving the laptop at home. Most guests who've visited say the absence of a work setup was part of what made the stay feel like a rest.

Noise: The resort's environment — the forest, the lake, the other guests in their own space — works best when everyone's keeping the volume reasonable. A Bluetooth speaker for your balcony is fine; playing it loud enough to reach the next cottage is not.

Getting to the resort

Arshinagar is in Pajulia, Joydebpur, Gazipur — approximately an hour from central Dhaka by car, Uber or Pathao. The complete route and pickup guidance is in the guide on how to reach Arshinagar from Dhaka.
