Resort Near Dhaka Airport and Uttara: A Forest Escape an Hour Out
There is a particular kind of tired that comes from landing at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. You have been in the air for nine hours, it is humid, and the idea of crawling south into central Dhaka is genuinely unbearable. Almost nobody realises that going north for the same amount of time puts you in a forest.
The distances, honestly
Arshinagar Resort sits in Pajulia, Joydebpur, Gazipur. From the airport that is about 27 km by road, which in practice means roughly an hour along the Dhaka to Gazipur BRT corridor. From Uttara it is about 26 km, usually a little under the hour, since Uttara already sits on the northern half of the same route.
We would rather be honest about that number than quote you a cheerful forty-five minutes and have you arrive irritated. An hour is an hour. What matters is that getting from the airport to a hotel in Gulshan or Banani can take just as long in evening traffic, and the difference is what you arrive to. One is a room above a road. The other is a hillside cottage in a sal forest with a swimming pool and a lake.
For travellers flying in and out
This works in three specific situations, and it is worth being clear about which.
A long layover or an overnight connection. If you have twelve hours or more, you can be at the resort in about an hour, sleep properly, swim, eat, and get back in comfortable time. We can arrange airport pickup on request, so you are not negotiating with a taxi queue at 2 AM. Send us your flight number and arrival time and we will have someone waiting.
The first or last night of a longer trip. Plenty of visitors to Bangladesh treat Dhaka as a transit point on the way to Sylhet, Sreemangal or the hill districts. Starting or ending that trip in a forest about an hour from the terminal is a far better bookend than a business hotel.
Arriving before you can check in. Most international flights land in the morning, and most hotels will not give you a room until the afternoon. Early check-in and day use are available here subject to availability, so tell us your arrival time in advance and we will try to hold a room. For people who live in Uttara
If you are in Uttara, you are closer to a proper forest resort than almost anyone else in greater Dhaka, and most residents have no idea. Twenty-six kilometres, straight up the BRT corridor. You can leave after Friday breakfast and be in the pool by late morning.
That proximity changes what a getaway looks like. It stops being a production. There is no packing the car the night before, no losing half a day each way to the Padma Bridge or the Chittagong highway. It becomes something you can do on a whim, which is the only way most people with jobs and children actually take breaks.
A daylong booking is the low-commitment version: a room for the day, lunch, evening snacks and the run of the grounds. What is actually here
The resort was built inside an existing sal forest rather than beside one, which is the difference between trees as decoration and trees as the reason you came. There are seven room categories, from the Eco Room up to the two-story Emerald Suite with its double forest-view bathtub. The Premium SkyView Cottage has a private bathtub and an open-air forest shower.

Practical notes for international guests
- A passport and valid visa are required at check-in for foreign nationals.
- Check-in is 01:00 PM, check-out 11:00 AM. Late check-out is subject to availability and carries a charge.
- Wi-Fi is available throughout, and every room has air conditioning and hot water.
- Airport transfer is arranged on request rather than run to a fixed schedule, so give us notice.
- Outside food and drink are not permitted on the premises.

Getting here
By car from the airport, head north along the Dhaka to Gazipur BRT corridor through Tongi and Board Bazar towards Joydebpur, then follow signs into Pajulia. The BRT flyovers have made this stretch considerably more predictable than it used to be. Ride-hailing apps cover the route. There is also a train from Biman Bandar station to Joydebpur Junction, which avoids highway traffic entirely, though you will want a car for the last stretch.
